Meeting with the Federal Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser

On Tuesday November 1st, AGMCA Executive Director Noel Marsella, met with the Federal Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser. The meeting was held at the FTI Glazier Training Centre in Toronto.
Topics discussed included the need for a revamped skilled immigration system to help target candidates with the required skills and qualifications in sectors such as ours that will be facing acute labour shortages.
Mr. Marsella thanked Minister Fraser for his interest in the glazing Industry and our unique set of skills requirements.
Especially given the fact that a large percentage of today’s journeypersons are set to retire over the next decade, the introduction of new candidates, whether they be from home or abroad, to our glazier and metal mechanic apprenticeship program is of paramount importance to all AGMCA Member glazing contractors.
